Our SQF Infusor
This product is currently under investigation and is not approved by the FDA. Its efficacy and safety have not been established.
We believe that patients should NOT have to be admitted into a hospital just to receive effective diuretic treatment.
Our team at SQ Innovation has developed the subcutaneous Infusor to provide hospital IV-strength diuresis for at-home use. A small volume of a novel formulation of Lasix has been developed to be administered by our mini patch pump Infusor.
This product is currently under development and is not approved by the U.S. FDA.
Using Subcutaneous Drug Delivery
Subcutaneous (under the skin) drug delivery is not new – it was first developed in 1853 – we want to make it convenient, comfortable, affordable, and ready for widespread distribution.
Studies have shown that drugs are rapidly absorbed from the subcutaneous space and for most classes of drugs is as effective when administered by IV.
Except for instant delivery of small volumes, which can be done by injection, subcutaneous delivery requires an infusion device.
Our Innovative Technology
With our partners at Gerresheimer AG, we have designed a subcutaneous (under the skin) Infusor with a novel higher-concentration formulation of furosemide to allow patients to receive diuresis in the comfort of their own homes, through a wearable patch pump.
Our Infusor is based on the Sensile Medical micro-pump technology and its small-volume cartridge-based platform. The device design uses a reusable motorized component and disposable cartridge, which minimizes waste and creates cost-effective treatment options in numerous therapy areas. The product is subject to regulatory review and approval.
Our Innovative Furosemide Formulation
A small volume of a novel higher concentration formulation of furosemide has been developed to be administered by our mini patch pump Infusor.
A higher concentration means that we can achieve the same therapeutic effect with a smaller volume, making it more portable and economical.
Thanks to the insulin-diabetes therapies there are numerous drug delivery options when the volume required for therapy is below 3 mL. There are few options available for larger volumes and they come at higher cost.
A Cost-Effective Alternative
Our focus is to bring products to the market that improve the quality and reduce the cost of care.
In addition to eliminating the cost of a hospital stay, we also achieve greater cost-effectiveness in two main ways:
Smaller Drug Volume
A higher concentration means that we can achieve the same therapeutic effect with a smaller volume. Thanks to the insulin-diabetes therapies there are numerous drug delivery options available for drugs in volumes less than 3 mL, making our novel formula more cost-effective.
Reusable Component
Our SQF Infusor features a disposable component as well as a reusable component, making it more cost-effective than replacing the whole Infusor each time treatment is needed.
